CSX 6900 |
Description: |
CSX Y225 with GP40-2 6900 and Road Slug 2315 cross the Hillsborough River. This bascule bridge built by the ACL in 1915. The bridgetender stands in the door to the tenders house. This bridge once saw dozens of movements a day but now sees usually just 1 movement a day and is only manned as necessary. The line to Port Tampa goes right through downtown Tampa and there is a short stretch of street running involved. The A-Line now officially ends at the Tampa Union Station leat at milepost A881.7, although it continues another 8.3 miles to old Port Tampa at A890.0 where it hits Tampa Bay. This last 8 miles of track is now known as the Port Tampa Spur. |
